How do I look more like Jesus? - Jan 7 - Feb 4

What does God want you to do? He wants you to look like Jesus by living your life like Jesus lived His.

That's a fine statement to aspire to--I want to live like Jesus--but what does that mean in practical terms? To help us wrap our minds around what it means to live like Jesus we have developed a set of values using the name of our church, MANOR, to help us remember them. These are the targets we aim for as we strive to live like Jesus:

Realign our Priorities    Worshiping like Jesus

Through out January we are looking at Jesus together through the lens of each of these values.

Finances are a domino issue

If you stand up a bunch of dominoes together in a line and push down the first domino, then the others will fall into place. However, if you don't have that first domino properly in place, then the others will not fall.

Stewardship is a domino issue because it is a concrete gauge by which we can measure how much we love God and how much we trust Him. If you fail to worship God with your finances then this issue will become a barrier to your continued spiritual growth. We all need to love and trust God more. That's why we must address finances periodically.

Revelation - The Power of Pictures

The most important thing about any of us is the image of God we carry around in our hearts. Therefore, God gave us the book of Revelation to make certain we have an accurate picture of reality. Revelation shows us that Jesus Christ is the central character of the universe, with all creation revolving around Him like the spokes of a wheel revolve around the hub. Jesus is the central organizing theme of the entire Bible such that without Him, in the words of Eugene Peterson, “all scripture becomes little more than a religious encyclopedia with no more plot than a telephone directory.”

I don’t know what pictures you have of Jesus in your mind and heart, but Revelation was written to purge our imaginations of trivial, banal pictures and replace them with white hot visions of God's glory and power. Revelation takes what has become so familiar to us and shows us how extraordinary it really is.
